Microsoft MyApps is a cloud-based service that allows users to access their favorite Microsoft applications and services from anywhere. It is designed to streamline the user experience by providing easy access to commonly used programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
How Does Microsoft MyApps Work?
A not so well known self service portal in the Microsoft cloud is the MyApps portal where users can manage their apps, groups and account settings themselves. This is a great place to see what tools you have available in Office 365 and it is in some ways a bit more uncluttered than office.com. For several years, WebP files required a plugin to work in Photoshop, but that’s no longer the case. The update allows winget to configure PowerToys and fixes several UI issues. It also adds support for the Peek feature to look at WebP, WebM, and audio files.
They compress better than JPEG files by between 25-34%, according to Google. Despite Google’s involvement of introducing and supporting WebP files, other companies are on board. Apple’s Safari supports WebP, as do Chromium browsers and some other browsers. The full change log is quite extensive, as is often the case for PowerToys. The latest version of PowerToys adds support for Peek to work with WebP, WebM, and audio files. You can also manage your MFA settings and add additional verification methods to your account. In this example I have configured both the Microsoft Authenticator app and SMS verification. If you navigate to Profile you can manage a whole bunch of settings for your account. So, if many big companies are on board and my browser of choice works with WebP files, why do I hate them?
Because some images appear to be a different file format but then when you try to save them, they turn out to be WebP files. I then have to convert the files into the format I want, creating an extra step to use the image. It’s probably a rather specific struggle that myself and the rest of the Windows Central team deal with, so it may not affect your workflow.
With Microsoft MyApps, users can log in to their account and access all of their favorite Microsoft applications through a single portal. This eliminates the need to remember multiple passwords and log in to different accounts separately. Users can also customize their dashboard to display the applications they use most frequently for quick access.
Benefits of Using Microsoft MyApps
This is the same function that can be used in Conditional Access to present Terms of use for end-users when authenticating. You can also join or leave groups and you can manage the groups you own. Of course, there are many places in Office 365 where you can do this but I think that this tool is most straightforward. You will also find shortcuts to all connected group resources like SharePoint sites and Teams teams.
One of the main benefits of using Microsoft MyApps is the convenience it offers. Users can access their applications from any device with an internet connection, making it easy to work on the go. Additionally, updates and patches are automatically applied, ensuring that users always have access to the latest features and security enhancements.
